The Vortex Centre is Gippsland Water's new water educational resource for primary and secondary schools located at the world-first Gippsland Water Factory in Maryvale. Admission is free for schools within Gippsland Water's service area.

The state-of-the-art 'green' facility features interactive displays, touch screens and videos, with a focus on water conservation and sustainable water management, highlighting water as a precious resource at a local, state, national and global level.

As visitors move through the centre, they will learn about the water cycle, Gippsland's water catchment and how it is managed, the Gippsland Water Factory treatment process, and how we can all play a part in conserving water and using it more wisely.

Water Wonders - Gippsland Water Vortex Centre education program

Gippsland Water is offering a range of programs in the Vortex Centre that focus on various aspects of water education. These programs run across various VELS levels, domains and dimensions and can be tailored to fit the needs of students and the school curriculum.

Each of the Vortex Centre education programs include an introductory welcome presentation, opening video, a Vortex interactive walkthrough, and a presentation and activity related to the program topic.

Vortex Centre tours

The Vortex Centre is available exclusively for bookings by schools between 9:30am - 3:00pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Term 2, 2010. Each tour and program takes approximately 1.5 hours. Please note a minimum of three weeks' notice is required.
